Early Treatment/Phase I Treatment: is limited orthodontic treatment designed to help guide facial growth and tooth eruption while preventing more serious problems from developing. Early treatment improves personal appearance and self esteem in children. Additional goals are to reduce time in full braces once all of the permanent teeth have erupted, while providing the best and most stable results. This type of treatment is started while patient is still in the mixed (baby/permanent teeth) dentition.
Full Treatment/Phase II Treatment: is comprehensive orthodontic treatment to include upper and lower dental arches. This type of treatment is started when all permanent (adult) teeth have erupted. The goal of full orthodontic treatment is straight teeth that fit together correctly.
